Sookie composes painted found imagery to expand our familiarity with personal statements that confront the romanticisation of mental trauma.

He explores the digital environment that our dating lives, friendships and families are navigated within creating a critical framework for broader discussions around themes of mental illness, romantic relationships and critiques of the internet age from the perspective of a young adult.

Growing up in Derbyshire UK, Sookie originally began painting to deal with anxiety, using action painting as a meditative process to express the feelings he couldn’t put into words, and now uses found imagery and text to extend our window into his art.
